Having just moved into a newly renovated home, the joy is somewhat overshadowed by the pungent smell of formaldehyde. You need an activated carbon mask. So, are activated carbon masks effective?

Activated carbon is often used in the adsorption, separation, and purification of gases; the recovery of solvents; as a decolorizing agent for sugar solutions, oils, glycerin, and pharmaceuticals; as a deodorant for drinking water and refrigerators; as a filter in gas masks; and as a catalyst or a carrier for metal salt catalysts.

Activated carbon masks are a widely used type of mask. A filter mask is generally composed of two main parts: the mask body, which can be simply understood as the frame of the mask; and the filter material, including filter cotton for dust prevention and chemical filter cartridges for poison prevention.

Activated carbon masks are effective, offering protection against poisons, odors, bacteria, and dust. They effectively block harmful gases such as benzene, ammonia, formaldehyde, and unpleasant odors in the air, protecting human health. They have significantly stronger adsorption capabilities than ordinary masks, filtering harmful gases and liquids up to 30 times more effectively.

Activated carbon masks contain activated carbon steel fiber filter sheets, effectively intercepting harmful substances in high-pollution environments and improving air quality. At the same time, the breathing resistance of the mask is very low. With the protection of the activated carbon layer, it's also reassuring to use.

The filtration principle of activated carbon masks relies on the filter material within the activated carbon layer. The main function of the activated carbon filter layer is to adsorb organic gases, odors, and toxic dust. It is not solely used for dust filtration; the filtration of fine dust mainly relies on the use of ultra-fine fiber electrostatic filter cloth, commonly known as non-woven fabric and melt-blown fabric. Activated carbon masks combine these materials, providing both poison and dust protection, so the effectiveness of activated carbon masks in protecting against poisons and dust is reliable.
